USDA EXTENDS WAIVERS TO ALLOW SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM!!!!

The Ashland Independent School District’s Food Service Department is thrilled to announce that the USDA has extended waivers to allow the Summer Food Program guidelines to be followed during the virtual learning platform.  This will allow the district to provide one breakfast and one lunch at no cost to children and teens 18 years and under.  Meals will continue to be available at the Ashland Exceptional Early Childhood Center, each elementary school, Ashland Middle School, and Ashland Blazer High School.  We will continue to utilize the “drive-through” system to minimize contact.  We will also continue to serve meals at the 13 mobile sites.

The meal service times will remain the same.  We will serve from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at each school and mobile site.  Check the mobile site schedule for tentative times at each location posted online. On Monday and Wednesday each student will receive an additional breakfast and lunch for the non-service days.  In order to receive a meal, the child must be present OR the parent/guardian must present the student’s meal card to the food service worker at the time of meal pick-up.

This meal service format will continue through Friday, September 25, 2020 when we hope to move back to a traditional mode of learning.  We remain committed to providing meals for the students in our community during this difficult time.  We will keep parents abreast of any changes as they are passed down to the district.  If you have questions please contact Linda Calhoun or Lena Reese at 606-327-2706.  You may also contact your child’s school cafeteria manager.
