NOTIFICATION OF POSITIVE COVID-19 TEST AT OAKVIEW ELEMENTARY

This is notification that a staff member at Oakview Elementary school has tested positive for COVID-19. The COVID-19 exposure happened in a kindergarten classroom. We are keeping this individual in our thoughts and are hoping they have a speedy recovery.

As required, our district has reported this information to our local health department. We are working with the Ashland Boyd County Health Department and are taking all recommended steps to ensure the safety of our children and staff. At present, three staff members and sixteen students have been quarantined by the health department.  Additional steps the district is implementing include: the individuals will not return to our school until they have completed isolation procedures for COVID-19; and the building will undergo thorough cleaning and sanitation.

2021 Benefits Selection Guide

Kentucky Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) Food Benefits Update!!!

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, food security continues to be a top priority for many Kentucky families. Last school year, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) approved Pandemic-EBT to allow families of Kentucky students to receive money for groceries to replace meals missed at school due to distance learning during the pandemic.

The USDA has now approved Kentucky to provide Pandemic-EBT to students for August and September 2020. This round of benefits will be available to any Kentucky student that receives free lunches at school through the National School Lunch Program. Eligible students will receive benefits for school days spent distance learning in August and September due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

What to Expect from the Ashland Independent Food Service Department!!!

As a result of COVID-19, the Ashland Independent Food Service Department has experienced many changes and continues to evolve as we maneuver through these challenging times.  We want to keep parents abreast of these revisions as they occur.  The USDA governs all local school nutrition programs and sets guidelines we must follow.  Currently as a result of lifted restrictions, we are implementing the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) which is very different than the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program we typically follow during a “normal” school year.

REVISION TO MEAL SERVICE BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 28TH, 2020!!!

Beginning September 28th, 2020 Ashland Independent School District will provide an in-person learning option for students.  As a result, the current structure of meal distribution will change.  Students choosing the in-person instructional model will have access to one free breakfast and one free lunch each day at school.

Students choosing the virtual platform may continue to utilize any of our 8 school sites to receive meals.

These sites include Ashland Exceptional Early Childhood Center, each elementary school, Ashland Middle School, and Ashland Blazer High School.  We will continue to utilize the “drive-through system to minimize contact.  The meal service times at each school location will remain the same.  We will serve from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at each school site.  On Monday and Wednesday each student will receive an additional breakfast and lunch for the non-service days.  In order to receive a meal, the child must be present OR the parent/guardian must present the student’s meal card to the food service worker at the time of meal pick-up.  Please note we will NOT provide mobile sites when in-person instruction is available.  The last day for mobile sites to be available will be Friday, September 25th, 2020.

We remain committed to providing meals for the students in our community during this difficult time.  We will keep parents abreast of any changes.  If you have questions please contact Linda Calhoun or Lena Reese at 606-327-2706.  You may also contact your child’s school cafeteria manager.
