What to Expect from the Ashland Independent Food Service Department!!!

As a result of COVID-19, the Ashland Independent Food Service Department has experienced many changes and continues to evolve as we maneuver through these challenging times.  We want to keep parents abreast of these revisions as they occur.  The USDA governs all local school nutrition programs and sets guidelines we must follow.  Currently as a result of lifted restrictions, we are implementing the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) which is very different than the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program we typically follow during a “normal” school year.  Below you will find information pertaining to our cafeterias and meal service for the re-opening of school.  The Food Service Department will:

  • Follow required meal patterns for the program in place.
  • Follow guidelines as provided by the Kentucky Department of Education, the Kentucky Public Health Organization, and our Local Health Department.
  • Follow Healthy at School Protocol.
  • Install sneeze guards and plastic shields in the serving areas.
  • Enhance sanitation in ALL areas and equipment.
  • Eliminate self-serve stations and share tables.
