Greetings... My name is Mrs. Justus and I am a teacher at Poage Elementary. I have uploaded the newest version of the 2020-2021 board approved school calendar. This year will be a true testament of teamwork as we navigate the uncharted waters dealing with COVID-19, but I'm confident that we will do everything possible to make this a great year for our students at Poage Elementary. I wanted to reach out specifically to the parents of my students in which I truly wish to partner with all in the quest to be able to better serve each student. I am starting my 21st year of teaching and find myself in the most rewarding career in the world! To let you know a little about myself… I received my Bachelor of Science from East TN State University to teach Physical and Health Education, my Master's of Education in Special Education from Old Dominion University and my Rank 1 in Special Education from University of Louisville. My wonderful husband and I will celebrate our 26th year anniversary on September 3rd. We have been blessed with two beautiful children. Tate graduated from Georgetown College last May where he competed on their golf team. (GO TIGERS!) Abigail is in the 8th grade at Rose Hill Christian School. She loves soccer, volleyball and especially our dachshund Harley Davidson =).
You can't imagine how excited I am about teaching your child! We are going to have a great time in our class and learn so much together. When I say together, I mean all of us...your child, you, and me. My wish is for us to be a team. We will be working together as a team with a common goal. That goal is to educate and nurture your child to reach their fullest potential possible this year. It will be a challenging year requiring much more independence and rigor from your child now that they are in kindergarten or first grade. I am looking forward to a stimulating year filled with many successes and rewarding learning experiences! In order to facilitate this goal, it is essential for all of us to work together to ensure that your child reaches their full potential and continues to stay challenged throughout this school year. Our classroom this year is in the main building room 14. Our school website is https://www.ashland.kyschools.us/. You can find lots of useful information here such as daily announcements, the school calendar and lunch menu. Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time! My door is always open. =) I can be reached either by the school phone (606) 327-2734, e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org), or through a class dojo app which I use as a communication log. I am here for you and your child should you have any questions or concerns. It is my hope that your child has an extremely positive year filled, not only with tremendous academic growth, but a lot of joy and laughter as well!
Thank you so much for your help and support in making this a GREAT YEAR!
