Public hearing for tax levy

The Ashland Independent Board of Education will hold a public hearing in the Gymnasium of the Ashland Board of Education Office at 1820 Hickman Street on September 15, 2017, at 5:30pm to hear public comments regarding a proposed general fund tax levy of 67.8 cents on real property and 67.8 cents on personal property.

The General Fund tax levied in fiscal year 2017 was 65.8 cents on real property and 65.8 cents on personal property and produced revenue of $5,830,327.35. The proposed General Fund tax rate of 67.8 cents on real property and 67.8 cents on personal property is expected to produce $6,386,745.38. Of this amount $960,648.76 is from new and personal property. The compensating tax for 2018 is 65.2 cents on real property and 65.8 cents on personal property and is expected to produce $6,150,290.39.

A special meeting of the Ashland Board of Education to set the property and motor vehicle tax rates for the 2018 fiscal year will immediately follow the hearing.
